- John, with his wife and family migrated west from North Carolina, about 1815 (or perhaps a little later). John was either killed or captured (a family tradition) by Indians and his wife and children continued on to Tennessee where they stayed for awhile before they again moved on, eventually setteling in Adams Co., Illinois.
